A successful church is one that helps to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission which is reported in Matthew 28:18-20, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
The church was commanded by Jesus to be on the offense, not the defense. Jesus told Peter, "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." Matthew 16:18. In light of past and recent world events, the biblical church does not appear to be on the offense. The Pew Research Center (www.pewforum.org) reported on April 2nd, 2015 that by 2050:
- The number of Muslims will nearly equal the number of Christians.
- In the United States, Christians will decline from more than three-quarters of the population to two-thirds of the population.
The biblical church is in the most effective position to make disciples. It should provide an environment where making disciples becomes a lifestyle for each member. Please consider joining TDM as a mentor or suggest someone as a mentee. TDM is helping the church move back on the offense.
